What is a Computer Virus?

virus delected imageComputer virus is a parasitic program that infects another legitimate program, which is sometimes called the host. We know that to infect the hot program, the virus modifies the host to store a copy of the virus. Many viruses are programmed to do harm once they infect the victim’s system. As you will see latter’s a virus can be designer to do various kinds of damage. But the ability to do damage is not what defines a virus.
To qualify as a virus, a program must be able to replicate make copies of itself. This can mean copying itself to different places on the same computer or looking for ways to reach others computers, such as by infecting disks or traveling.

A computer virus track is given below:

1.The programmer creates a booth sector virus and stores it on a hard disk. The virus is copied to any floppy disk that is inserd into the same computer.

2.The programmer distributes infefted floppies to others users.

3.The hard disks of others users are infected by the infected floppy.Every computer floppy that is placed in an infected computer also becomes infected, and the number of infected and the number of infected computers grows exponentially.
