Online Shopping means buying a produced or service though a
Web site. (Another term for online shopping is buying –to –consumer (B2C)
transaction.) Even if you have never shopped online, you probably have heard of
web sites such as Amazon.com and Buy.com (see Figure 9B.1.) They are just two
of the many popular web sites where consumer can buy all sorts of things.
What do can you buy online? The list is almost limitless –
includes everything from cars to appliances electronic to jewelry, clothes to
books fine wines to favorite newspaper or magazine online, hunt for antique and
order complete holidays meals for delivery to your door. You can never buy and
sell items of all has turned into a full-time business for thousand eBay user
(see Figure 9B.2)
There is thousand of consumer Web sites and each has its own
look, feel, and approach to customer satisfactions. But effective online
shopping sites share a few essential features:
- A catalog where you can search for information about products and service.
- A “checkout “sections where you can securely pay for the items you want to purchase.
- A customer service page, where you can contact the merchant for assistance.
